The Story Of Bryan

Zawya Coffee House became one of our closest clients in early 2025. We began with a single film built around Mirza by Nino Ferrer, stylish, with a little humour from a young actress. Then the staff pointed out a barista named Bryan, who loved the camera. He became the lead of a series of vertical mini films, each one an episode in the working life of a coffee house that takes itself less seriously than its coffee.

  1. 01 · Early 2025

    The first film was about taste: a track from 1966, a clean frame and a restrained palette. The funniest thing in it was a small girl, who played her role with perfect seriousness. We noticed that the humor was what people remembered, so we started looking for it.

  2. 02 · Bryan

    The staff spotted one of the baristas, Bryan: a very funny guy who loved being in front of the camera.

    There started a series of social media reels and campaigns, fully focused on the creation of vertical mini films, each about one of the adventures of Bryan and his staff friends.

  3. 03 · Ramadan

    On the night of Garangao, the equivalent of Halloween, a customer comes to ask for a Pyrex, a big tray of cake. Bryan tells him they ran out. Caught off guard, the man cries like a baby.

    Bryan, in the middle of a children’s tradition, consoles the only adult in the queue.

  4. 04 · Art Basel

    The day Art Basel came to Qatar, Bryan decided to become the curator of the Zawya Coffee House. He invited guests and over-explains and over-artifies everything at the coffee shop, even a table that was forgotten to be cleaned, as a representation of chaos.

  5. 05 · Old Doha Port

    Bryan overhears a customer saying they need a change of routine and maybe new spots to try. Heartbroken, he runs away. The whole staff runs behind him, but he is too fast. They put up posters to find him, and the customer apologises to the camera.

    One day a spy calls: Bryan has been seen somewhere in Old Doha Port. Zawya opens its new branch at Old Doha Port. He just needed some change as well.

  6. 06 · Summer

    One summer in Qatar, Bryan became a weather man, with his reporter Fryan. It is above 40 degrees everywhere in the country, but on the map, Zawya says minus 13.

    Fryan, on site, says the newly announced drinks are the cause, and that he is not coming back to the office. Back to Bryan: he has left the stage as well, and is ordering the new drinks.

  7. 07 · Summer garden

    Zawya opened its usual summer garden pop up, and this time it is Italian themed. Why? Bryan's Italian cousin called and advised him. Bryan loves it, and is almost becoming Italian as well. He calls to check the Italianness of the pop up.

  8. 08 · West Walk

    Zawya opens a new branch in West Walk, but to their surprise nobody shows up. Bryan is lost, sad and confused. But contemplating the streets of West Walk in his sadness, he finds the solution: hack into the biggest screen of the venue. With the help of all his team, he is ready for the biggest heist in history. He saved the day.

  9. 09 · PR stunt

    The screen faces three ways: one towards the ground, one along one way of the venue, the other the opposite way.

    People walking towards Zawya see a happy Bryan dragging them along. Those looking at the ground see Bryan judging them for sitting at the other coffee shops’ tables. And people walking past Zawya look up to find a Bryan angry at them.
